From Passports to Credit Cards, Nothing is Safe from Hacking
The dark web is a colossal network of websites that offer illegal services ranging from hitmen to drugs to weapons and hacking. The dark web is estimated to be at least 500 times the size of the visible net, and can only be accessed via special browsers and website clients.
FreeHacks is one of the largest hacking forums on the deep web, and aims to “collectively gather its resources in order to maximize efficiency and knowledge dispersement”; and can be accessed via the Tor browser by simply typing in the URL of the site. The site contains various sub-forums and categories such as carding, phreaking, hacker world news, DDoS attacks, programming etc. Signing up requires filling out an extensive form detailing your knowledge and reason for joining the forum, and a ‘declaration’ of sorts to seemingly justify their operations.
The various posts that can be found on the forum include ‘How to get someone’s physical address’ – a comprehensive article about how you can pinpoint somebody’s location by using reverse query addresses or even by using phishing websites to grab the location of the nearby Wi-Fi access points; and articles on social engineering – essentially, how to fake your way into an organization/company’s database by posing as an employee and using a Trojan to infiltrate their internal network.
