Marketing Director at Willis Towers Watson in Beijing, CN

In this role of China Marketing Director, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with key business stakeholders, to strategize and develop strong country-level marketing initiatives to plan and enrich the profile of the Willis Towers Watson’s brand as well as supporting business development to drive new growth and opportunities for the company.  You will work as a key member of the China Leadership team. As a key business partner to the business, your will partner with the Head of Greater China, China key segment leaders, the Client management teams and your team to develop annual and quarterly marketing and communications plans. These include: 
    • Providing consistent deliverables, ensuring a high degree of quality, innovation and value in all marketing deliverables
    • Build Willis Towers Watson brand awareness internally and externally
    • Generate sales lead opportunities from marketing initiatives
    • Help transform client issues into actionable campaigns with go-to-market strategies and measure effectiveness/impact

The successful candidate will have track record demonstrating experience in positioning Marketing and Communications as a trusted business advisors providing comprehensive marketing advisory and guidance to all business segments and regions through well planned and executed marketing plans.This will include across multiple channels including events, PR, campaigns planning and execution, digital and social marketing, and developing sales tools.

The Marketing Director is responsible to establish strategy, provide counsel and key advisory on the right design of marketing initiatives that is relevant for the China market. This includes developing a deep understanding of China’s customers, business environment and Willis Towers Watson’s advisory and consultancy solutions to establish plans that will support strong business desired outcomes through marketing collaboration.

Plans will encompass physical events and digital/social activation across direct client relationships as well as through strategic third party collaborations.

Position Willis Towers Watson as a thought leader in helping businesses deliver solutions that manage risk, optimize benefits and rewards, cultivate talent, and expand the power of capital to protect and strengthen institutions and individuals. A key element of the role is to ensure consistency with local, regional and global marketing initiatives, working closely with other marketing team groups to make this happen including Segments, Functions and COE.

Solid Marketing Acumen:
Understand how to develop and apply actionable insights across buyer roles and be adept at segmentation strategies for the China market and best practices to effectively target and deliver appropriate messaging in marketing planning. Possess strong industry knowledge of the Company’s line of business operations to identify opportunities and threats to existing strategies.

Drive Innovation:
Introduce new marketing approaches, processes and optimize techniques to better connect with customers in meaningful ways to achieve results. You will be a key catalyst to proactively seek ways in your planning and work with other regional teams to both request and adopt change.

Manage Your Team:
Develop, nurture and retain critical talent.Responsible for line management, ensuring all individuals have clear goals, objectives and responsibilities that meet the specific needs of the country, but are also aligned to, and support, the marketing priorities across Asia Pacific

Outstanding Leadership:
  • Build strong relationships across multiple stakeholders to effectively establish  marketing objectives and ensure full support for the marketing strategy and plans
  • Communicate and partner effectively with local and regional team members and internal clients to set expectations, drive project completion, problem solve issues to ensure most effective marketing strategies are delivered in impactful markets and measurable ways
  • Identify and foster relationships with appropriate industry and 3rd party associations in the market
  • Provide analysis and insights into marketing activities and related costs to determine their effectiveness and impact and provide performance benchmarking
  • Implement and enforce Willis Towers Watson workflow processes

  • Minimum 10 years marketing experience, ideally gained within a professional services or a B2B environment, operating in a matrix environment
  • High level of business and marketing acumen
  • Excellent verbal, written communications and interpersonal skills
  • Resourceful, ability to anticipate issues and work through problem solving with proactive attitude
  • Self-motivated, flexible and agile with exceptional organizational skills
  • Strategic and tactical marketing experience, with specific emphasis on marketing planning, execution, and experience with marketing technologies and online project management tools
  • A key interest in new media and technologies, adeptness and openness to learning new tools and creative approaches
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to present issues and resolutions in a persuasive manner to senior decision makers in a matrix organisation
  • High energy, detail and action oriented, and results focused
