Google Duo Welcomes New Captions Feature for Video Calls
Google Duo will now make it fun for its users to chat via the app since it is soon to introduce the Captions feature for the audio and video messages. The feature will be available on both Android as well as the iOS version of Duo. On opening the voice messages, users can find the Captions button towards the end of the screen just above the call option.
Earlier, reported being in the testing phase, the feature is now all set to be rolled out to the masses. It should be noted that the feature is applicable only in the case of recorded video and voice messages and not during the process of live video calls.
Further, Google states that it would be collecting users' audio content for transcription, however, it will never store the data collected. Google announced the arrival of this feature via a tweet on Twitter.
However, the feature is not the same as the Live Captions feature on select Pixel devices. In the past few months during the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the video calling apps have seen a surge in demand.
