WhatsApp Pay to require Five More Months to Go Live
WhatsApp Pay might require five more months to go local and live. WhatsApp seems to be permitted to beta-test its pay payments product within a limited user base of 10 lacs and is also allowed to do small value transactions by the NPCI.
WhatsApp, however, has not shared details regarding the exact number of users on its platform but it might be in the range of 7 lakh. It is using the UPI for facilitating payments in India.
WhatsApp seems to be working closely with the banks, NPCI, the government and also other payment service providers to support India's digitization agenda. It has already started to work with the third-party auditor for the localization mandate.
It has also started offering payment services with ICICI Bank.
