FTC Aims to Understand the Data Collection Process by Twitter, TikTok, and Others
Recently, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has directed popular social networking platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Amazon, Discord, WhatsApp, Reddit, and Snap to submit the data. The main purpose of FTC is to understand how the data is collected by these companies.
The FTC has provided a timeline for the companies to respond to the orders issued. The data collected by the companies are used to track where the users go, with whom they have interacted, and what are they up to.
However, in defense of the FTC's order, Discord states that the company does not collect personal data for advertising neither do they share the data with any third party.
The social media companies under the radar are yet to comment on the orders issued.
