What should be expected from the New Data Protection Bill in India
The GDPR was enforced on businesses that dealt with data that belonged to EU citizens. India seems to be in jitters seeing the introduction of this New Data Protection Bill in India.
However, before the actual enforcement of the this new bill, Organisations need to understand the key provisions of the bill in order to understand where do they actually stand. Some of the provisions will tend to have an effect on how the organisations currently operate in India.
When the implementation of this bill comes in force businesses will be required to assess their current IT infrastructure and at the same time make concerted efforts towards being fully compliant. Top management would be required to refresh policies, ensure synchronisation across departments and conduct regular checks.
For the purpose of compliance, a considerable amount of resources would be required and this will only lead to positive growth in future.
