FTC Raises Legal Allegations against Facebook on Grounds of Anti-competitive Conduct
The social media giant, Facebook has again come under the radar of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC has raised its voice on the ground that Facebook has been illegally playing a monopoly position related to personal social networking.
The FTC has alleged that Facebook is playing to be a market leader with years of anti-competitive conduct. FTC aims at creating a fair and competitive social networking market. Facebook is making it difficult for other companies to compete.
FTC will throw some highlights on Facebook's acquisition of Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014. Moreover, Facebook has also placed allegations on the anti-competitive conditions related to third-party software.
To prove that the allegations against Facebook are real, FTC will be required to confirm the claims in court. Responding to the allegations, Facebook has alleged that it will review the alleged complaints and revert soon with a response.
