Facebook Takes Down Around 2.2 Billion Fake Accounts
Facebook seems to have taken a major step towards reducing the number of fake accounts in 2019. Recently, it has been found that Facebook has taken down nearly 2.2 billion fake accounts as in the first quarter of 2019.
During Q4 in 2018 also roughly 1.2 billion fraudulent accounts were destroyed. Facebook says that around 5% of monthly active Facebook accounts are still said to be fake.
Facebook reveals some of the ways used to detect fake accounts. If there are multiple accounts created from a single IP address than it is one sign that the user is creating multiple fake accounts.
Around 1 million accounts can be created at a time and if that happens Facebook gets intimidated that there isĀ a high probability that someone if trying to create a network of fraudulent accounts.
