Facebook, WhatsApp Blocked In Sri Lanka After A Massive Mosque Attack.
The government of Sri Lankan was seen to have on Monday temporarily blocked certain social media platforms which included Facebook and WhatsApp. This happened since a Mosque had been attacked in Chilaw which followed weeks after the Easter Sunday bombings.
One of the reasons for this move was the false propaganda which circulated on social media. The curfew was imposed in Chilaw after a mob had attacked a mosque and a few shops that were owned by Muslims.
Stones were thrown at the Mosque and Muslim-owned stores. Also there was a group of suicide bombers who led out a series of blasts at churches and luxury hotels on 21st April in Sri Lanka. This attack led to the killing at least 253 people.
