Facebook has again in its act breaching user data. This time Facebook has been charged by Australia's Information Commissioner. Facebook has been charged on grounds of breaching the Privacy Act of 1988.
In this breach, around 3 lakh Australian user data have been compromised. If in case the charges are proven Facebook will be required to pay a fine of around AUD$1,700,000.
The social media giant was seen to have disclosed Australian user data to a third-party application. This has resulted in conflict with the APP 6 (Australian Privacy Principle 6) Act.
Apart from this, Facebook has also breached the APP 11 Provision of the Act. In the past, the UK Information Commissioner's Office also imposed a similar penalty on Facebook.
