Google Updates its Maps App, to Include COVID-19 Updates
Google has now updated its Google Maps app to showcase the latest COVID-19 hotspots. The new update will include colour codes that will highlight the areas that are seen to be infected, with COVID-19 cases.
The feature will be using the latest 7-day average of cases per 100,000 people in areas being viewed. It will also feature a label that will bring to notice whether the number of cases is rising or coming down.
With the help of the new tool, users will get an idea about the area having the most number of cases and whether they should head over to that area or not. The data will be based, on insights from Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins hospital, the New York Times, and Wikipedia.
The new update will roll out by this week. The update will be available for both iOS as well as Android devices. Besides, Google has also released a pandemic-related tool that lets users know about the likelihood whenever public transport will be crowded.
