Google to Release its own Smart Display this Year
Google is reportedly set to release its own line of smart speaker display. Initially, the company was relying on third-party hardware makers such as Lenovo to do the manufacturing of smart displays. However, now it has planned to launch its own smart screen Home devices before the end of this year. Google Home is an AI voice assistant which will now reportedly pose a smart touchscreen display. LG, Lenovo and JBL also planned to launch their own smart displays, but Lenovo's Smart Display, launched last month is the best looking among the three.
Google is also behind hardware manufacturers to develop their own smart screens. This can seem like a strange strategy when it's also developing its own line of smart screen displays because Google has had a successful run since the launch of its Google Home devices. It seems that Google is willing to support the third party usage of Google Assistant and even expand its own line after the launch of its smart screen speakers.
Google's rampant stride into the smart speaker industry is to counter the growing presence of Amazon's devices like Echo Show and Spot. However, the numbers say that Google's Home devices are already ahead of Amazon with 449% year on year growth in global shipments.
