Common Myths about Twitter
The following article basically highlights some of the myths related to Twitter. It was Twitter’s chief executive Jack Dorsey who was on a media tour for the purpose of fighting for its company’s reputation. Some of the common myths include the following:
1. Twitter Systematically Bans Conservatives:
There was a myth that Twitter was systematically banning conservatives from its platform because of its ideology. However, Twitter does limit the reach of some accounts based on a variety of factors which is a part of its anti-abuse and anti-harassing strategies. After going viral on conservative Twitter, it corrected its search results shortly.
2. An Intern Runs that Brand Account:
It is said that whenever a celebrity account tweets something remarkably clever, it will surely be the work of some intern. But when we see in the year 2018, we hardly find any interns responsible for managing any influential business or person.
3. Trump has Broken Twitter's Rules:
There was a time that whenever Trump posted any tweet on Twitter there use to be a viral call saying to ban him for the sole reason of breaking the rules.
4. Trump’s Account is Followed by a Suspicious Number of Bots:
It is said that there was a tweet claiming that “Trump’s account has gained about 5 million followers in a span of less than 3 days”. This tweet created a ruckus after about 10,000 retweets were followed by it. However the myth won’t die.
5. Twitter is the Voice of the Internet:
Since Twitter is a platform that seems free for all, it most often considered to be a representative rather than an informational avalanche.
