A recent bug in Twitter
might have sent users' DMs
to unknown developers. Direct messages from approximately 3 million
users were exposed to outsiders as claimed by Twitter
. The bug started from May 2017 and after getting discovered the company mentioned that the bug is fixed.
With the help of Account Activity API
, registered developers can now build tools in order to better support businesses and communications with customers on Twitter.
Twitter has a total of some 336 million users and less than 1 percent have been affected. When checked by Twitter no kind of hacking activity was reported however it advised its users to enter a new password on all services wherever their current password has been used.
