Google to Reestablish Duo with Meet
Google is all set to merge its Duo app with Meet. Both Duo and Meet are a part of Google's video calling service, and both are increasingly giving Zoom competition. Hence, Google has decided to collaborate with both its app to strengthen its position.
The merger of these two apps will give rise to a collaborative app jointly known as 'Duet.' Google Duo emerged to be one of the most popular videos calling services by Google since its inception. With the merger, few of the features of Google Duo will soon be a part of Google Meet.
During the pandemic phase, Google Meet saw a rise in its engagement level by nearly 30 times. Google has stated that till the time the merger does not get fully in effect, it will continue to work on improving its Duo app.
The main features that will see a shift from Duo to Meet include an end to end encryption, 3D effects, and the ability to connect with users via their phone number. As of now, there is no fixed date as to when the transition will finally roll out. It will be spread over the years to come.
Google plans to merge these two apps so that it can enhance its services and thereby continue to serve its customers in a better and improvised manner.
