How to keep your Whatsapp Account safe in case your Phone is Stolen
So what if one day your phone gets stolen and your whatsapp contains confidential and important information? There are certain tricks and tips which you need to keep in mind in order to keep your account safe and also take control of your WhatsApp account.
It is seen that even if your SIM Card is removed you will be able to receive and send messages on Wi-Fi. You can use this feature in case of switching from one phone to another and have not backed up your data.
When your phone gets stolen the first thing you should do is to call your mobile service provider and get your SIM card locked. The reason for this is your WhatsApp account will not be verified as it requires access to SMS or phone call in order to activate it.
You can then opt for a new SIM card and activate WhatsApp on the new device. In case due to some reason your SIM card is not received yet, you can also email WhatsApp with "Lost/stolen : Please deactivate my account" in the body. You also need to keep in mind that even if your account is deactivated you will still receive messages which remain pending for upto 30 days.
