Amazon Team that Monitors Alexa is able to access User Locations
It has been reported that the staff at Amazon who monitors a fraction of the recordings captured by the voice-activated assistant have the ability to view location data in some cases.
With this information, they can pinpoint the address of the smart speaker and bring them closer to identifying the user. There are five employees who have been granted the anonymity.
Location data basically enables Alexa to give better answers to questions that hinge on the user's whereabouts. Amazon however claims that it forbids employees from accessing customer information for other purposes.
Amazon said that a very small number of interactions are monitored randomly and this data is used to improve the voice-activated assistant's speech recognition technology.
