How Firefox is using Pocket to try to build a better news feed than Facebook
According to recent reports, it has been found out that Firefox is trying to build and provide a better news feed as compared to Facebook by using pocket. Pocket is something wherein the users can store their articles and videos related to various topics and issues at one combined place. Nate, the founder and CEO of pocket has recently told that he has all the good reasons for having sold his company to Mozilla. His aim is to provide users with a more personalized approach while using the web. This new system will be within Firefox and how the users browse the web will help them in determining personalised recommendations. He further adds that none of the data will be stored to us and users will only provide us with their data for a great experience. Pocket will provide recommendations on the basis of the which topics are being searched and which videos and articles are regularly saved. Their main aim here is to provide benefits to all the parties that is users and publishers both at the same time. We are not here just to build more traffic but to provide value in whatever we offer. Unlike in case of Facebook where publishers rely heavily on it we want to provide something which is of benefit to both users as well as publishers.
