Paytm has alleged that Google Pay is Violating Data Privacy Norms
Paytm has alleged that Google Pay seems to be violating the data privacy norms. When it comes to digital payment services in India it is said to come with its own set of controversies. Recent accusation has come by Paytm claiming that Google Pay is said to be sharing consumer data with group companies and also third-party service providers.
The letter in which the accusation is mentioned is sent to NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India). The allegations has come from Paytm. Paytm has earlier questioned Whatsapp Payment Services too for sharing sensitive consumer data.
Paytm has mentioned the following complaints regarding Google Pay:
- Google pay can collect, store, use and disclose the personal data of users for various advertising and promotional purposes.
- It discloses users personal data with Google
- Google Pay also accesses users navigation,logs and correspondence data.
Google in response to these allegations has stated that it takes all the necessary care to ensure that the customer data is well protected. When it comes to Google it is not controlled by RBI. Other digital wallets and payment banks are under the strict vigilance and control of RBI.
